Morning
Afternoon
Leave your passport, suitcase and mosquito net at home. You don’t need to take the plane to go on an adventure, it’s right outside your door.Little adventures give you a change of scene without the carbon footprint. It’s all about getting a thrill without polluting nature, doing sport at your own pace. If you want an experience to remember whether that’s under a teepee or underground, on board a segway, at the top of a mountain or tucked away in a mountain refuge, here are four mini adventures for you in the Chambéry region!
Straight from the Great Plains in America
Admit it: you’ve always wanted to reenact Dances With Wolves! Make your dream come true in the Savoie Grand Revard mountain pastures. A teepee village awaits for unforgettable evenings by the campfire. Extreme adventurers can even try it when the teepees and surroundings are dusted with snow. The village is open all year so you can book your teepee in summer or winter. You’re in for an adventure, but you’re not missing out on comfort! The teepees have: slatted beds, sleeping bags to protect you from the cold (up to -18°C) and a wood stove.
Bathrooms are available in the village to protect nature. All you have to do is send smoke signals to get your tribe to the teepee village (which can host up to 34 people).
Voyage to the centre of the earth
This little adventure sees you sleep six feet underground. The gentle murmurs of underground life sing you to sleep and give you a good night’s rest, even in this unique setting. The Karst 3E caver starts your adventure by taking you down into a pitch black cave until you reach an underground bivouac. Feel your way through the darkness as the sounds take another dimension and your senses are disoriented.
When you reach the bivouac you’re treated to a classic Savoie meal to recharge your batteries. Your caving guide will share their passion for geology and the Bauges Mountains with you. The mountain range is listed as a UNESCO Geopark. After an experience like that, you can slip under your cosy duvet and let the earth’s lullaby sing you to sleep…
See the scenery in another light
Just the word “segway” makes you think of a sci-fi adventure… But your experience is definitely on solid ground as you glide around at your own pace AND take care of the environment! Ride your way in almost total silence so you can observe the nature around you without disturbing it. Hop on board your magic carpet and head to the Natura 2000 site of Saint-André Lake or the rolling paths winding through the vineyards in Chignin.
It’s easy to handle the electric vehicle: a guide will show you how to use it and join you on your ride. Spend quality time with the family: segways are suitable for disabled people who can hold themselves up and children who weigh over 40 kilos. All that’s left is for you to book a date at Events et Loisirs.
Give your senses a change of scene
“Wonder, taste, move”: the holy trinity for a ride in the Bauges Mountains. Ride your mountain bike to Refuge du Creux de Lachat from Le Revard ski resort, Arith or Saint-François-de-Sales nails all three in one go. Gaze in wonder as you zip through stunning scenery. Savour every minute when you finally reach the Refuge du Creux de Lachat chalet and taste the delicious Savoy specialities… No pain, no gain!
Get moving as you ride your mountain bike on roads and signposted paths leading you to unique vistas. Explore the Cœur des Bauges throughout your ride. Imagine stumbling upon the Shire in Middle Earth with the cliffs far behind and the rolling valleys with unexpected changing colours. Take a deep breath and drink in the beauty of your surroundings!
